East Berlin Mayor Keith Hoffman declared a State of Emergency on March 14, 2020 in response to Governor Wolf’s Disaster Declaration signed on March 6, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Borough Office was closed to the public. There was no Borough Council meeting in April. A remote public meeting was held in May. Planning Commission and Parks & Recreation Commission did not hold meetings in April or May.
On May 20, 2020, to coincide with the Yellow Phase of Reopening, East Berlin Mayor Keith Hoffman and Borough Council President Roberta Teal announced that the Borough office would re-open to the public on Thursday, May 28th and Borough Council, Planning Commission and Parks & Recreation Commission could resume in-person meetings in June.
Although Adams County enters the Green Phase of Reopening on June 12, 2020, we recommend that everyone continue to follow CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the most vulnerable among us.
We continue to ask for your patience as we transition to full operations. We appreciate our first responders and frontline workers who continue to serve all of us during this challenging time.
