As of October 1, 2018, East Berlin Borough entered into the Joint Contract for Municipal Waste Collection/Disposal & Recycling for the Southeast Group (Abbottstown Borough, East Berlin Borough, Cumberland Township, Straban Township).
Our hauler is Waste Connections of Pennsylvania
- Customers are directly billed by Waste Connections. For more information and to sign up for services, click here or call (717) 709-1700.
- We have weekly curbside trash pick-up, bi-weekly curbside recycling pick-up, and bulk trash pick-up upon request. Pick-up day is Thursday. If pick-up day coincides with a holiday, pick-up day will move to Friday, the following day.
- Recycling Guidelines for items acceptable for recycling. Non-recyclables can contaminate an entire load, so please follow these guidelines.
- All trash must be bagged. Place all recyclables loosely in recycling bin.
- Weather-related delays will be posted on the company website and in Latest News.
- Yard waste is limited to two bags per pick-up. Please trim twigs and branches to manageable size and bundle for easy pick-up.
- If you have bulk trash (large items such as furniture, televisions, etc.), please schedule pick-up with Waste Connections by calling (717) 709-1700 or contacting them through their website or the WasteConnect app.
- We have quarterly electronics recycling at drop-off locations chosen by the municipalities in the joint contract. East Berlin hosts the drop-off every December at our Community Park. Date and time will be posted in Latest News.
- We request that residents and businesses place trash and recycling containers at the curb or alley AFTER 5PM the day before weekly pickup.
- 2020 Solid Waste Ordinance requires residents and businesses to store trash and recycling containers on the side or rear of their properties, NOT in front of their properties.
